ASSEMBLY ON HIROSHIMA DAY

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, Students and teachers of Felicity House organized an assembly in fifth and sixth periods in Rajni Kumar Hall of Celebration in remembrance of Hiroshima day and paid tribute to its survivors in the form of a narrative art, titled ‘Eternal remembrance: Tribute to Hiroshima day’. The students of class 11 and the members of UN club witnessed the assembly.

The assembly opened with a talk show named ‘Voices of Resilience: Interview with a Hibakusha’ where Shafiuzzaman of 11-B and Ananya Gupta of 12-A, (Felicity House Captain) portrayed the role of an interviewer and a real-time Hibakusha (Mr. Kunihiko Iida) respectively. The entire talk show was based on incidents involving the bombing of Hiroshima and its aftereffects on the life of the survivor. As Kunihiko told his story, the three narrators (Sanaya Kapoor, Gaurika Verma and Vrinda Chopra of 11-D) narrated his journey in a poetic form with various students of middle school enacting. The interview ended with a message of peace by Kunihiko, followed by a melodious song, titled ‘Moments of Peace’, sung by the choir prepared by ma’am Neha Singh.

The Choir was followed by a special debate segment titled ‘Quest for peace’, moderated by Laavanya Radhakrishnan of 12-E, where the speakers Aadi Shashwat of 12-D (Felicity house captain), Natalie Joseph of 12-D, Samaya Pahwa of 10-D and Ivana Puri of 12-E presented their views on the topic ‘Nuclear disarmament: the need of the hour’. As the assembly proceeded towards its end, a dance performance on the song titled ‘Heal the world’ was presented by Aishmin Kaur of 12-E, Sanaya Kapoor of 12-D, Rishit of 9-B and Kaustubh Narayan of 9-D. This was followed by students of std. 9 and 10, Jasnadar kaur, Arshiya Narang, Ahana Chakroborty, Vidisha Aneja and Nimrat Kaur Bangar updating the audience about Japan’s efforts in peace building.

The assembly came to an end with a beautiful thought spoken by Prisha Bajaj of 9-B, followed by a speech by the Felicity house in charge Ms. Ashveena Choudhary, about efforts we can make to maintain peace in our surroundings. Laavanya Radhakrishnan and Samaya Pahwa concluded the assembly with vote of thanks, post which ma’am Shuchi Bajaj, Head of Social Science department, addressed the students about the importance of this day and peace in our lives.
