Springdales School, Pusa Road hosted the inauguration of Delhi School’s Literacy Project on the 16th of October 2024. The pioneering initiative was instituted in 1988 by Padma Shri Late Dr. Rajni Kumar and other visionary educationists with the objective to ensure active role of schools and students in eradicating illiteracy.
The theme for this year Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace will be reflected in a week-long series of contests involving students from various leading schools across Delhi. Competitions like, Declamation, Theatre, Art and Music will have the young minds coming together for a noble cause of promoting literacy.
In her welcome address, the Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta reiterated that this initiative is instrumental in bringing together like-minded institutions to fulfil the objective of universalization of education. She expressed her firm belief in education as the single most important tool for social and economic transformations leading to an overall enhancement of the quality of life of people.
Dr. Jyoti Bose, Honorary Advisor, DSLP and Chairperson, Springdales Education Society; Mrs. Usha Chopra, Founder Principal and Director New Era Public School, Dr Usha Ram, Manager Springdales Pusa, Mrs Suman Kumar, Chairperson Blue Bells Education Society along with other NPSC Principals were the guests for the event.
The event showcased glimpses of the DSLP Schools’ unwavering commitment to the cause and in their quest of service. The visionary pioneers of the project were honoured and felicitated while the school choir presented the melodious rendition of the Lakshya Geet- ‘Uthe Samaaj Ke liye’. The highlight of the programme were the dance performances celebrating the spirit of service and the spark of light for those in the shadows of darkness.
An exhibition displaying the community service initiatives with Gandhian thought was put up by the students.
Proposing the vote of thanks, Dr Bose, applauded the hard work and efforts of Dr Rajni Kumar and the founder members towards creating an environment of learning and literacy. She reaffirmed the commitment of DSLP through various initiatives to take forward the purpose of literacy in creating more inclusive communities connecting the head-heart and hand which is possible with more schools joining for a noble cause.

On 30th September, 2024, the Social Work department in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute Research Centre organised a free cancer awareness and screening camp for all staff members. It focused on oral, cervical and breast cancer. Students of classes 10th and 11th were active participants in the cancer awareness session. Dr. Muskaan (gynaecologist resident in preventive oncology at Rajiv Gandhi cancer institute and centre), discussed and explained early symptoms of cancer, preventive measures that one can take and self testing process for detection of oral and breast cancer. It turned out to be an impactful and interactive session.
A screening camp on oral, cervical and breast cancer was also organised by the team of doctors for teachers and support staff. The teachers actively participated in the camp and it was a success. For event gallery Click here
An Inter-House English Choral Recitation Competition was hosted by Felicity House on August 24, 2024, with the evocative theme; "Harmonies of Hope." The event featured a captivating showcase of vocal prowess and literary artistry, from the school's eight houses.
The program commenced with a stirring introductory segment, followed by a formal welcome address delivered by Ms. Ritika, the Incharge of Felicity House. The students of Std. VIII from Eight houses presented their choral recitations, exploring the profound themes of love, peace, and hope through diverse and compelling performances.
The event witnessed a diverse array of recitations, each a testament to the students' dedication and creativity. Peace House eloquently presented 'The Way to Love and Peace' from Galatians 5:22 in the Bible, while Endeavour House stirred hearts with 'Ashes of War Seeds of Peace.' Unity House pondered 'What is Peace?' and Amity House shared 'Love and Peace' by Solomon. Forward House enraptured the audience with 'Into the Twilight' by William Butler Yeats, and Felicity House resonated with Langston Hughes' powerful piece, 'Give Us Our Peace.' Freedom House presented Pablo Neruda's 'Keeping Quiet,' leading up to the poignant finale of 'No Men are Foreign' by James Kirkup.
The distinguished judging panel, comprising the erudite Dr. Ira Raja, Professor of English at the University of Delhi, and Dr. Sakshi Wason, Assistant Professor of English at Zakir Husain Delhi College, meticulously deliberated before announcing the results. The winning houses were:
1st Position: Forward House
2nd Position: Unity House
3rd Position: Freedom House
Esteemed Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, addressed the audience, offering heartfelt commendation for the students' remarkable achievements. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Madhurima Tyagi.

The Social Work Department launched the Rahat Campaign in collaboration with the Goonj Foundation as an urgent response to the natural calamities affecting various regions in India, including Kerala, Karnataka, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar.
The campaign was aimed at mobilizing the school community to support disaster relief and rehabilitation efforts for the affected populations. Students were encouraged to contribute generously by bringing specific items identified as essential for immediate relief such as Dry ration (including rice, pulses, flour, sugar, and salt), General clothing for all age groups, mosquito nets and blankets, Sanitary napkins, etc.
The Students efficiently coordinated the collection of donations from each class. They meticulously sorted the items into various categories, and carefully packed, labeled, and quantified the contributions. The campaign received an overwhelming response, with generous donations pouring in from both students and their families. 21 अगस्त 2024 को, मिडिल स्कूल हिंदी विभाग ने रजनी कुमार हॉल ऑफ़ सेलिब्रेशन में एक आकर्षक हिंदी कविता पाठ का आयोजन किया। इस कार्यक्रम में कक्षा 6ठीं और 7वीं के विद्यार्थियों ने भाग लिया। इसमें हिंदी जगत के जाने-माने कवियों की कविताएं शामिल थीं । सभी कविताएं प्रेरणादायक थी जिन्हें विभिन्न प्रौप्स के द्वारा रोचक ढंग से प्रस्तुत किया गया ।
कविता पाठ प्रतियोगिता का निर्णय संसद टीवी की वरिष्ठ अतिथि समन्वयक *सुश्री दीप्ति वशिष्ठ* और संस्कृत के प्रोफेसर श्री रणजीत मिश्रा के एक प्रतिष्ठित पैनल द्वारा किया गया।
कक्षा छठी व सातवीं के दर्शक छात्रों ने सभी प्रस्तुतियों का तालियों के साथ उत्साह वर्धन किया। जिसमें "एनडेवर सदन की कविता ' *बसंती हवा* ' को प्रथम स्थान , फैलिसिटी सदन की कविता ' *एक भिक्षुक* ' को द्वितीय स्थान व पीस सदन की कविता ' *कृष्ण की चेतावनी* 'और यूनिटी सदन की कविता ' *ऊंचाई* ' को तृतीय स्थान प्राप्त हुआ। सभी विजेताओं को उनकी कड़ी मेहनत और समर्पण के लिए प्रमाण पत्र दिए गए। यह कार्यक्रम हिंदी विभाग द्वारा किया गया एक प्रयास और नवाचार के प्रति छात्रों की प्रतिबद्धता का सफल प्रदर्शन था। For event gallery Click here
With great fervor and patriotic sentiments students and staff of Springdales School Pusa Road came together to celebrate the 78th Independence Day on August 14, 2024.
With an assembly of profound significance, orchestrated by Class X students, the event was honored by the presence of Major General Ian Cardozo (Retd) AVSM , SM and Mr. M. Harshvardhan, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central District.
Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, delivered a compelling address, underscoring the theme "Viksit Bharat," which envisions India’s ascent to global prominence.
The celebrations were marked by flag hoisting, an evocative choir performance, insightful address by DCP Harshvardhan, and a ceremonial presentation. The Sarita Gupta Scholarship was conferred on 4 students of the economically weaker section by the principal and the distinguished guests.
A poignant traditional folklore presentation by the elderlies from the “Adopt a Gran” initiative and a stirring performance by Class X students celebrated India’s rich cultural tapestry its significant history and marvelous achievements.
Chief guest, Major General Cardozo delivered a stirring speech with his reflections on independence, which paid tribute to our freedom fighters and their sacrifices.
The assembly concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Mrs. Shuchi Bajaj and a rousing rendition of the national anthem, encapsulating the spirit of national pride and unity. For event gallery Click here
Interact club installation ceremony took place on 8th August, 2024 at the Hall of Celebrations, Springdales School, Pusa Road. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Pragyan Pradip Sharma (President , Rotary Club of Garden City), Mr. Vivek Kataria (Director, Youth Committee), Dr Kavita Sharma (Rotarian and Managing Board , Springdales School, Pusa), Mr. Rajeev Taneja (Executive Secretary , Rotary Club) Mr. Kavit Laroia and Dr. Mala Gupta (Principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road).
The occasion commenced with a tree plantation drive in the Herbal garden by students of Interact club and Environment club. This was followed by badge giving and oath taking ceremony where students were awarded with prestigious badges.
The Student Choir sang a melodious song “Aao milkar haath badhaye” and a self-composed poem was recited with an expressive enactment. The Interactors read the annual report of Initiatives taken by the club and different domain leaders. Mr. Pragyan Sharma congratulated students for their collective effort of getting the first sanitary pad vending machine installed at school.
Mr. Vivek Katari inspired students by sharing details of the Rotary International’s networking and working across schools, colleges and people from different walks of life. Our principal Dr. Mala Gupta initiated the oath taking ceremony, congratulated the Interact council members and motivated them to carry out their duties with responsibility.

Springdales School, Pusa Road observed the Mandela Day to commemorate the 106th birth anniversary and to honour the legacy of Dr. Nelson Mandela on the 18th of July, 2024. The celebration was a culmination of the diversity week on the theme ‘Diversity: Our Only Commonality’. A series of activities marked the ties between India and Africa and attempted to reinforce amongst the students, values of humanism, embracing differences and inclusive development.
The valedictory function was presided over by Brig. Gen. Kevin Moonsamy, Defence Advisor, South African High Commission; H.E. Dr Ali Achoui, Algerian Ambassador; Mr. Lovemore Ncube, Counsellor, Embassy of Zimbabwe; Mr. Timothy Strack and Mr. Fabian Welt from the Goethe Institut; Ms. Bhutani, Founder and Director, Prayatna Educational Society; Dr. Usha Ram, Manager, Springdales School, and other members of the managing board.
Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and paid floral tribute to Madiba along with the distinguished guests.
The choir mesmerized the audience with the melodious rendition of the classic Zulu song ‘Ve Le Le’ and ‘I arise’. Students also brought forth some very pertinent issues about Urban Sustainability In Africa.
The highlight of the programme was celebrating the diversity of cultures in India and around the world through a dance presentation titled, ‘The Fluid Rhythms of Culture’ by students of both senior and middle schools. The programme also witnessed an enactment titled, ‘A Message Transcending Prison Walls’ based on Mandela’s letters from his days of incarceration. The event concluded with an enactment by the students on the famous poem, ‘The Hill We Climb’ by Amanda Gorman.
Mr Timothy Strack, Language Advisor South Asia with Goethe Institut, in his speech, explored the significance of languages in strengthening cultural ties and bringing people together.
Chief guest, Brig. Gen. Moonsamy addressed the audience and shared his personal experiences of growing up and surviving the challenges of apartheid South Africa. He emphasised the importance of Education in overcoming poverty, inequity and violence, and envisioning a world where young people can love, learn and leave behind a legacy for generations to follow. Following him, as Dr Ali Achoui spoke to the audience, he reminisced about Mandela’s humanity and sufferings while he showed South Africa and the world the way to freedom and social justice. Dr Achoui encouraged students to take charge as leaders of change to form a better, a more humane world.
They appreciated the Principal and the school for their continuous endeavors in building Indo-Africa relationships and applauded the role of teachers in shaping generations of sensitive global citizens. For event gallery Click here
