Interact club installation ceremony took place on 8th August, 2024 at the Hall of Celebrations, Springdales School, Pusa Road. The ceremony was graced by Mr. Pragyan Pradip Sharma (President , Rotary Club of Garden City), Mr. Vivek Kataria (Director, Youth Committee), Dr Kavita Sharma (Rotarian and Managing Board , Springdales School, Pusa), Mr. Rajeev Taneja (Executive Secretary , Rotary Club) Mr. Kavit Laroia and Dr. Mala Gupta (Principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road).

The occasion commenced with a tree plantation drive in the Herbal garden by students of Interact club and Environment club. This was followed by badge giving and oath taking ceremony where students were awarded with prestigious badges.

The Student Choir sang a melodious song “Aao milkar haath badhaye” and a self-composed poem was recited with an expressive enactment. The Interactors read the annual report of Initiatives taken by the club and different domain leaders. Mr. Pragyan Sharma congratulated students for their collective effort of getting the first sanitary pad vending machine installed at school.

Mr. Vivek Katari inspired students by sharing details of the Rotary International’s networking and working across schools, colleges and people from different walks of life. Our principal Dr. Mala Gupta initiated the oath taking ceremony, congratulated the Interact council members and motivated them to carry out their duties with responsibility.

Springdales School, Pusa Road observed the Mandela Day to commemorate the 106th birth anniversary and to honour the legacy of Dr. Nelson Mandela on the 18th of July, 2024. The celebration was a culmination of the diversity week on the theme ‘Diversity: Our Only Commonality’. A series of activities marked the ties between India and Africa and attempted to reinforce amongst the students, values of humanism, embracing differences and inclusive development.

The valedictory function was presided over by Brig. Gen. Kevin Moonsamy, Defence Advisor, South African High Commission; H.E. Dr Ali Achoui, Algerian Ambassador; Mr. Lovemore Ncube, Counsellor, Embassy of Zimbabwe; Mr. Timothy Strack and Mr. Fabian Welt from the Goethe Institut; Ms. Bhutani, Founder and Director, Prayatna Educational Society; Dr. Usha Ram, Manager, Springdales School, and other members of the managing board.

Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, extended a warm welcome to the gathering and paid floral tribute to Madiba along with the distinguished guests.

The choir mesmerized the audience with the melodious rendition of the classic Zulu song ‘Ve Le Le’ and ‘I arise’. Students also brought forth some very pertinent issues about Urban Sustainability In Africa.

The highlight of the programme was celebrating the diversity of cultures in India and around the world through a dance presentation titled, ‘The Fluid Rhythms of Culture’ by students of both senior and middle schools. The programme also witnessed an enactment titled, ‘A Message Transcending Prison Walls’ based on Mandela’s letters from his days of incarceration. The event concluded with an enactment by the students on the famous poem, ‘The Hill We Climb’ by Amanda Gorman.

Mr Timothy Strack, Language Advisor South Asia with Goethe Institut, in his speech, explored the significance of languages in strengthening cultural ties and bringing people together.

Chief guest, Brig. Gen. Moonsamy addressed the audience and shared his personal experiences of growing up and surviving the challenges of apartheid South Africa. He emphasised the importance of Education in overcoming poverty, inequity and violence, and envisioning a world where young people can love, learn and leave behind a legacy for generations to follow. Following him, as Dr Ali Achoui spoke to the audience, he reminisced about Mandela’s humanity and sufferings while he showed South Africa and the world the way to freedom and social justice. Dr Achoui encouraged students to take charge as leaders of change to form a better, a more humane world.

They appreciated the Principal and the school for their continuous endeavors in building Indo-Africa relationships and applauded the role of teachers in shaping generations of sensitive global citizens. For event gallery Click here

Springdales School, Pusa Road partnered with the South African High Commission to mark and honor Nelson Mandela’sremarkable contributions for equality, world peace and the long struggle against Apartheid.

Aligning with the Nelson Mandela Foundation theme for thisyear “Joining Hands, Connecting Communities” to commemorate Mandela’s 106th birth anniversary, students, teachers, Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, Deputy High Commissioner Cedrick C. Crowley and other dignitaries from the High Commission visited the adopted villages of Dasghara and Todapur on 12th July 2024 and made meaningful contributions to community.

Resonating with his values, the outreach program aimed to pay tribute to the 67 years of Mandela’s struggle for justice by giving 67 minutes of service by ration distribution, tree plantation and cleanliness drive within the community.

The initiative has been a step towards sensitizing the students to our collective duty of building a more dependable, cohesive and equitable community – ideals that Madiba held close to his heart. For event gallery Click here

Indian Pollution Control Association and Motherson Group (funding partner) conducted SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT awareness progamme for the Environment club students on 6th May, 2024.

It was an interactive session where the importance of segregation of different kinds of waste was reiterated to the students. They were explained how dry, wet and hazardous waste can be separated at home and in school. Wet waste is collected in composters/aerobins in the school which decomposes within 3 months, generating a rich manure. Dry waste can be sent for recycling.

The 56th Gowardhan Dass Declamation was held at Springdales School, Pusa Road on Tuesday, 30 April 2024. The contest was instituted in the year 1967 in memory of Mr. Gowardhan Dass, the founder Chairman of Springdales Education Society. A fine orator, he was interested in all socio-economic and political problems faced by society.

As Dr Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School, welcomed the gathering, the event opened with a piano presentation and band performance, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Shuchi Bajaj, Head of the Social Science department.

Sixteen teams from some of the leading schools of Delhi participated in the event. Prominent academics, Prof Nidhi Gulati and Debjani Sengupta of Delhi University, and acclaimed independent journalist, Ms Bhumika Saraswati, judged the contest. It was presided over by Mr. CV Srikanth, old Springdalian, batch of 1985.

The declamation covered a range of topics, from gender and society, language and art, to the effects of poverty, hunger and violence in the world. With intuitive insights and relevant research, the teams put together impactful speeches for the audience.

After a very close competition, the Gowardhan Dass Rolling trophy for the Best Team was awarded to Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan. The Anil Das Trophy for the Second Best team was secured by DPS Mathura Road. The K.C. Khanna Special Award for the Best Speaker was awarded to Springdales School Pusa Road and Bluebells International School. The host school did not compete for the Gowardhan Das and Anil Das trophies.

The 12th Shri I.P. Kapoor memorial football tournament was held at Springdales School, Pusa Road on 19th April, 2024 to commemorate the dedicated services of Shri I. P. Kapoor, who served the institution as a physical education teacher for 35 years. His sincerity and commitment towards the school and sports were exemplary.

It was an inter-unit match between the teams of Springdales, Pusa Road and Springdales, Dhaula Kuan. It aimed to inculcate the team-spirit and sportsmanship in the students.

Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta along with family of Shri I.P Kapoor and members of the managing board offered floral tributes to Late Shri I.P. Kapoor. In her welcome address, Dr. Gupta encouraged the participating teams and wished the players good luck. She also stressed upon fair play and competitive spirit which are vital on the sports field.

On 3rd and 4th April, 2024, SUPW orientation program was organized for class XI. The aim was to initiate on introductory discussion about the community service initiatives in the school and the way they are executed through the SUPW curriculum. Class XI was divided in to two batches. They were taken for visits to different NGOs on both days.

Our students visited Dasghara and Todapur (our adopted communities). On the first day, we went for our monthly ration distribution visit, exposing our students to the functioning of the SANDHAAR ADOPT A GRAN PROJECT. Next day, we went for a community walk in order to develop an understanding about the profile of Dasghara.

One section of students visited Rose Udaan - a shelter home for girls. Our young enthusiasts had a great experience, interacting and spending quality time with the beneficiaries of our volunteering initiative. Another section went to Arya Mahila Ashram, getting an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with the elderly.

We also went to Salaam Balak Trust – a shelter home for boys rescued from the streets where our students engaged in many recreational activities with the boys of the home. Such experiences not only orient us to difficult situations that the most vulnerable sections of society find themselves in, but also instill a sense of compassion and generosity in us. Springdales School, Pusa Road held their Annual Athletic Meet on 21st March 2024. Students from Class VI-XII participated in various athletic and track events. The meet was declared open by the chief guest Dr. Swati Pal, Principal, Janki Devi Memorial College, DU.

The Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta along with the chief guest witnessed the march past from the saluting base. The squads comprising of National and State Players, school prefects and the eight houses were led by their captains. Students enthusiastically participated in track events and were cheered by the audience. The programme culminated in a finale where the students stood in unison upholding the spirit of sportsmanship.

The chief guest, Dr. Swati Pal, spoke of the importance of sports personal fitness through games and athletics. Top athletes were honored with awards and the house trophy as well as best marching squad was won by Equality House.
