47th Y. Kumar Memorial Assembly for Peace and International Understanding

Springdales School, Pusa Road hosted the 47th Y. Kumar Memorial Assembly for Peace and International Understanding on 9th February 2024.It was a culmination of a series of events that took place during a week consisting of Essay writing, Quiz competition, Painting competition, Group discussion and Interview. Over 80 students from 11 leading schools across the NCR and Delhi participated in the event.

The Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta, gave the welcome address paying tribute to the founder manager of the school Shri Yudister Kumar and Chairperson Dr Rajni Kumar. She expressed her firm belief in the power and vitality of the youth in creating a more humane and inter-connected world.

Prof Babli Moitra Saraf, Former Principal Indraprastha College for Women, University of Delhi, delivered the Y. Kumar Memorial Lecture on ‘Language and Interpretation in Transnational Communication’. Through her own stories and narratives, she emphasized on the importance of language both verbal as well as cultural in creating bonds of love and universal brotherhood, connecting the self with others. She made an appeal to the young students to overcome the world issues making their contributions towards global peace and understanding individually and as a collectivity.

To mark the occasion, the school choir presented mesmerizing musical rendition- Interfaith Invocation and Moment of Peace, followed by Zorba a dance presentation.

Dr Jyoti Bose, Chairperson, Springdales Education Society greeted the gathering and spoke of the magnanimous vision of the pioneers Shri Yudhistir Kumar and Dr Rajni Kumar in taking the institution pinnacles of success.

The lecture was also attended by Prof Chandrachur Singh, member managing board, Mr. Peter Mahafha, 1st Secretary Political, South African High Commission and a gathering of parents, teachers and students. For event gallery Click here

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

Springdales School, Pusa Road celebrated the 75th Republic Day with great fervor and patriotic spirit. The event was graced with the presence of esteemed Chief Guest, Colonel Niraj S. Karanjgaonkar, SM, a serving officer in the Indian Army, and our respected Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta.

The parents of Standard VI and VII attended the programme. They were enthralled by the musical and dance performances exhibited by the talented students.

The school choir enchanted the audience with harmonious melodies, showcasing the talent nurtured within the institution.

The students of Std 6 and 7 presented "Colours of Patriotism," a patriotic musical fiesta featuring ballet performances, celebrating the diverse cultural tapestry of India. The collective strength and shared values were highlighted as the driving force towards freedom, justice, and prosperity.

Colonel Niraj S. Karanjgaonkar addressed the gathering, sharing insightful thoughts.

Dr. Mala Gupta delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging students to uphold democratic principles and contribute to the nation's development. Her words resonated with a sense of responsibility and civic duty.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2024

The investiture ceremony at Springdales was held on 22nd January 2024. This marks a very important event for all Springdalians as it not only prepares them for the leadership roles at school but also helps them imbibe values and skills for their future.
The chief guest of the day was Mr Nishant Narayan, Deputy Chief Operations, Northern Railways Headquarters, Baroda House. The occasion witnessed the proud coronation of young leaders as members of the student council and recognising their contributions to the school. For event gallery Click here

ANNUAL WINTER CARNIVAL

A much-awaited event in the Springdalian calendar, the annual winter carnival was organised in the school grounds on 24th December 2023.

The event was inaugurated by a well-known and renowned Bhajan Samraat, Indian playback singer and musician Shri Anup Jalota Ji. His melodious bhajan performance lifted the early morning spirits and left the audience spell bound. He congratulated the school and principal Dr. Mala Gupta for all school endeavours and initiatives.

More than 3000 students, parents and visitors came together for the festive carnival. The day long cheerful galore saw enigmatic band performances both by present batches and old Springdalians. The visitors and guests witnessed a Christmas theme fashion extravaganza by students across Nursery to XII. The school grounds buzzed with interesting games stalls, engaging activities and shopper’s delights.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT, AWARENESS PROGRAMME

MCD in association with Indian Pollution Control Association and Motherson Group (funding partner) conducted SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT awareness progamme for our school students on 26TH October, 2023.

The students of Environment club, student council members, prefects, house captains attended the awareness programme.

Students were apprised that poor solid waste management can lead to various problems in health, environment and socio-economic aspects. They understood how we in school and at home can segregate the wet, dry, metallic and plastic waste.

The waste collectors and students learnt how to generate compost from wet waste through aerobins /composters installed by IPCA.

The guests of the day Sh. Kumar Abhishek, Deputy Commissioner, MCD, Dr. Radha Goyal, Deputy Director in Indian Pollution Control, Ms. Priya Kalia, CSR Manager, Motherson Group (funding partner) addressed the gathering and encouraged the students.

27th Rahul Joshi Memorial Inter School Declamation Contest

27th Rahul Joshi Memorial Inter School Declamation Contest was held on 17th October , 2023 in the Hall of Celebration. Rotary Club, Cama Place sponsored this programme. Mr. Atul Sharma (Advocate , Supreme Court & High courts ; executive chairman of an international law firm Dentons Link Legal), Mr Kabir Dixit (Counsel with Dentons Link Legal, Advocate-on-Record at the Supreme Court of India) and Dr. Nabanita Chakraborty (Associate Professor of English at Hansraj College, University of Delhi) were the judges for the event.

Ten schools, participated in the competition. Each school was given one topic on current affairs to prepare for 45 minutes. Trisha Sharma from Bluebells School International won the best speaker and the rolling trophy for the same.

Student Parliamentary Competition

Springdales School Pusa Road in collaboration with Ms. Rajlakshmi Das and Ms. Mitisha Sharma (Policy Research Studies) hosted 60 participants from Springdales Pusa Road and Springdales Dhaula Kuan to engage in rigorous intellectual discourse and showcase their research and oratory skills on 11 October. 2023. The event aimed to foster critical thinking, public speaking and teamwork among students, preparing them for future leadership roles.
The program began with lamp lighting with faith invocation by the school choir.
The competition commenced with the Question hour. Teams from both schools participated with each team consisting of five members. The second part of the competition was the Bill discussion where students had to showcase their research skills. It concluded up with the declaration of results and a vote of thanks by the H.O.D. of Social Science Department, Mrs. Shuchi Bajaj. The event highlighted the importance of understanding parliamentary proceedings in nurturing informed, articulate, and socially aware future leaders.
The esteemed panel of judges includes Dr Chandrachur Singh- Associate Professor at Hindu College, University of Delhi and Ms. Aarti Chopra- Legal Advisor on the Board of Directors of various companies. For event gallery Click here

MANODARPAN: MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

Springdales school, Pusa Road celebrated Manodarpan: Mental Health Awareness week with students of junior, middle and senior school. The objective was to normalise discussion about mental health in school and encourage children to share and express how they feel in difficult times and challenging situations.

Happiness box activity was conducted with class V where all students made happiness boxes and filled them with things that made them happy. Let’s connect with ourselves activity was conducted with classes VI and VII where students filled a survey form talking about various concerns pertaining to mental health, followed by a sensitization movie.

A Peer education session was facilitated by one adolescent peer educator of our school for class VIII. She touched upon vital aspects of mental health and the session turned out to be very interactive and meaningful. Mental Health is a Universal right- Poster making activity was conducted by class IX where they beautifully portrayed their conceptions of mental health through posters.

Art for self care session was conducted with class X in collaboration with Fortis Hospital. The resource person used drawing as a medium for self-reflection and identifying instances of happiness, confusion and stress. Breaking the Silence session was conducted with class XI in collaboration with Dr. Shwetank Bansal (Psychiatric social worker and alumni of Springdales, Pusa Road ). He touched upon nuances of mental health, stress coping techniques and other mental health concerns.

Panel discussions were organised about growing mental health issues with class XII where selected students spoke on a diverse range of issues. Ms. Suchi Bajaj also added significant insights to the session which further made the session relevant. A Mental Health rally was held during the assembly where students from class VI- VIII participated and showcased their posters and created awareness about normalisation of discussion about health in the school campus.
