French Orientation Programme

On 12th July’2023, a ‘French Orientation Programme’ was organised in the Hall of Celebration (HOC) and was addressed by an esteemed academician Prof. Yakshita Arora from Alliance Française De Delhi. Students from Std VIII to XI who have pursued French as their third language attended the session. The parents of the students from 9th to 11th also joined the informative session.

The session enlightened the audience about the plethora of opportunities that the students can get by pursuing French Language at a higher level in school, after which they can pursue it through alliance Française De Delhi. Prof. Yakshita Arora also shared her journey at AMICIF – a cultural exchange programme in France and her experience and learning while living with a French family.

The session motivated the students to avail the opportunity of taking French at Senior Secondary level, as an elective subject. For event gallery Click here

54th ANNUAL GOWARDHAN DASS DECLAMATION COMPETITION

The 54th Annual Gowardhan Dass Declamation contest was hosted by Springdales School, Pusa Road on Saturday, 6 May 2023. The contest started in the year 1967 in the memory of Mr. Gowardhan Dass, the founder Chairman of Springdales Education Society. A fine orator, he was vitally interested in all socio, economic and political problems faced by the society.

Dr. Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the participants from various leading schools of Delhi and NCR. In her address she stressed on the importance of developing communication skills and a genuine concern and sensitivity towards the world and its problems. Through her speech she motivated the young minds by saying that this world belonged to them and the contest reiterates the force of the youth- their friendship and commitment to new endeavours.

Few of the thought-provoking topics ranged from: Biggest threat to humanity- climate change or war?, Has India lost its claim to secularism? to Social Networking site- a disruptive force or a tool for social good

The contest was presided over by Prof Nirmalya Samanta, an Old Springdalian and Associate Professor of English, Delhi University. The esteemed panel of judges included Ms. Tisha Srivastav, HOD Media Studies at Ashoka University, Ms. Seema Chishti, Editor, The Wire and Dr. Chandrachur Singh, Associate professor of Political Science, Delhi University.

The first position was bagged by Springdales Dhaula Kuan, and the best speaker award was given to Gauri Manchanda of Springdales School Pusa Road. The host school did not compete for the Gowardhan Dass rolling trophy. For event gallery Click here

Stress Management Workshop at Springdales Pusa

Springdales School Pusa Road in collaboration with Centre of Excellence hosted 70 teachers from leading schools across Delhi and NCR for a Capacity Building Workshop on 29th April 2023. The program began with lamp lighting with faith invocation by the school choir.

The captivating and enriching workshop on Stress Management provided an opportunity for educators from different areas of specialization to interact with each other and share their experiences. Dr. Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the Resource persons Ms. Mamta Sabharwal, Headmistress Darshan Academy and Ms. Aruna Sivaraj, HOD, Himalaya Public Senior Secondary School along with the participating teachers.

Ms. Sivaraj and Ms. Sabharwal involved the audience in a series of hands-on activities creating a lively and enthused atmosphere. The speakers through the various activities facilitated the teachers to identify some common causes of stress at home and work-place. They also presented the ways and measures to cope with stress and overcome it.

Ms. A. Sivaraj initiated the session with introduction in the form of an ice-breaker. She made the teachers reflect on the major stresses they encountered and distinguished between distress and eustress.
In the subsequent sessions, the Resource persons emphasized on the need to identify individual stresses and mechanisms like practicing gratitude, open communication, journaling, engaging in a hobby to cope with them

The participating teachers brought out their creative streak by writing poems, singing songs and dancing to learn and experience stress management strategies. The day long reflective and interactive workshop was a valuable learning experience. For event gallery Click here
