SUMMER CAMP FOR EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING 2022

A joyful and fun-filled summer camp was organised by the sports and visual & performing art teachers for the students of std. 6 to 9. Creative experiential and reflection engaged the students from 17th - 27th May, 2022.

Investiture Ceremony 2022

The investiture ceremony at Springdales was held on 9th May 2022. This marks a very important event for all Springdalians as it not only prepares them for the leadership roles at school but also helps them imbibe values and skills for their future.

The occasion witnessed the proud coronation of young adolescents as members of the student council to take up duties and responsibilities as a true Springdalian leader.

To represent wishes and hopes, for a visionary future overcoming all obstacles the school choir mesmerised the audience with their soulful musical rendition of song- Aashayen as the opening song. The choir also presented 'Tum Samay ki ret par' signifying the power of youth to bring about great changes.

The chief guest for the occasion, Mr. Arvind Malhotra, an old Springdalian of the batch of 1977, an accomplished entrepreneur and a corporate consultant having held various leadership positions at school and collage motivated the students with his presence. In his address he spoke about changing leadership styles and trends in the current times.

Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta administered the oath and inspired the young leaders to tread the path of righteous duty. In her encouraging address she spoke of the three important lessons of life- to be happy with the knowledge one has but always keep the quest for curiosity, follow one’s passion with the head and the heart, accept challenges and help others to rise.

53rd ANNUAL GOWARDHAN DASS DECLAMATION COMPETITION

The 53rd Annual Gowardhan Dass Declamation contest was hosted by Springdales School, Pusa Road on Monday, 2 May 2022. The contest started in the year 1967 in the memory of Mr. Gowardhan Dass, the founder Chairman of Springdales Education Society. A fine orator, he was vitally interested in all socio, economic and political problems faced by the society.

Dr. Mala Gupta, Principal, Springdales School welcomed the participants from 14 schools of Delhi. In her address she stressed on the importance of developing communication skills and a genuine concern and sensitivity towards the world and its problems. Through her speech she motivated the young minds by saying that this world belonged to them and the contest reiterates the force of the youth- their friendship and commitment to new endeavours.

Few of the thought-provoking topics ranged from: Basic Income and Healthcare should be everyone’s right, Politics without ethics is not only worthless but also positively dangerous to Climate Change: What will be our legacy?

The contest was presided over by Mr Atul Gulati, an Old Springdalian. The esteemed panel of judges included Dr. Usha Ram, Founder Principal of Sadhu Vaswani School and erstwhile Principal of Laxman Public School, Mrs. Rachna Pant, Principal Ramjas School, R.K Puram and Prof. Chandrachur Singh, Associate professor of Political Science, Delhi University.

The first position was bagged by Bluebells School, and the best speaker award was given to Nishika Sahoo of Springdales School Pusa Road. The host school did not compete for the Gowardhan Dass rolling trophy, For event gallery Click here

International Earth Day Celebrations

Observing the International Earth Day on 22nd April 2022, students of std X presented their class assembly on the topic of Ecological Sustainability and Protection of the Environment.

Through a creative mix of songs, dances and thought-provoking articles students sensitized the audience about the need for protection of mother earth.

A beautiful dramatization depicted the idea and importance of garbage management that will be taken up by each Springdalian family as a short-term project. This will be reviewed periodically for its efficacy.

Principal, Dr. Mala Gupta initiated the plantation drive in the school grounds. As a part of the green cover endeavour, the school has installed various bird nests, made rain water harvesting units functional and harnessed the solar panels to foster values of care and empathy towards the nature. Principal along with parents of the incoming nursery class planted 100 perennial tree saplings which would grow and bloom along with the tiny tots of the nursery grade not only marking this important day but also inculcating among the students a sense of belonging to the ecology and environment. Dr Gupta plans the same for the out-going batch of std XII as they leave their alma mater, thus ensuring that each Springdalian continues to live its motto- ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’- The world is a family.

Martyr's Day is Observed

Students of Springdales School, Pusa Road observed Martyr’s Day to mourn the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. The observance also aims at saluting the martyrdom of soldiers who lost their lives defending the sovereignty of the Nation.

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS

Springdales School, Pusa Road celebrated “National Youth Day” and “Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda” with great enthusiasm on 12th January, 2022.

Students of class VI A conducted an assembly and spoke about the significance of Swami Vivekanada and his teachings. A short story on Vivekanada’s life was also presented by Std VI D highlighting the importance of this day.

The programme was attended by the parents and students of the school.

Teacher's Day Celebrations 2021

The celebrations for the Teacher’s Day 2021 in Springdales School, Pusa Road took place on 6th September. All the student teachers from Class XII assembled in the Senior Basketball Court to felicitate their teachers. The students showed their appreciation for the teachers, with cards, flowers, and gifts.

Soon after the felicitation, the assembly for the Teacher’s Day took place on Microsoft Teams virtually.

Student principal, Rabbani Khurana, began with a speech of heartfelt thanks to all the teachers, which was followed by a musical tribute prepared by the school choir. Shanalika Jetley and Nitya Arora spoke poignantly about the role of teachers in the success of students.

The chief guest for this year was Professor Bijayalaxmi Nanda, the Principal of Miranda House College. Our officiating principal, Dr. Mala Gupta welcomed her and wished the students. The assembly concluded with a presentation of mesmerising e-cards made by the students for the teachers.

After the assembly, all the student teachers went to their respective venues and took their assigned online classes. All classes were enlivened with discussions and active participation of the students. The student teachers had planned extremely interesting and engaging teaching sessions. They were duly appreciated by the teachers for their dedication and competence. It was a day for expressing appreciation and respect for the teachers. For event gallery Click here
